Claire Duncan wins excellence award for sound design at the 2018 Auckland Theatre Awards
20 Dec 2018
SAE Creative Media Institute is proud to announce that Claire Duncan, administrator of the Auckland campus, has taken out the award for best sound design for her work on the deconstructed feminist play, Medusa.
Medusa was written by local playwrights and enjoyed a successful run through the countries main centres in October. As well as her win in Auckland, Claire was also nominated for the Sound Designer of the year award at the Wellington equivalent.
Claire interpreted the experimental, non linear script with a sonically exciting mix of drones, oscillating sine waves and purpose built, light responsive Theremins. Those that were lucky enough to witness Medusa during it’s run were as captivated with the striking sound as they were the powerful performances by the actors.
